Self-Storage Rules of Thumb, Facebook’s Reach and Employee Rights to Privacy


We stumbled on an interesting column by Jim Chiswell in Inside Self Storage, maintaining that it may be best to ignore certain standards of practice in favor of what’s going on today in your specific self storage market. Rules such as “only pay 66% of the average rental rate per square foot for your lands,” are too restrictive in this economy, whereas some overarching best practices, such as adding a strong customer service element to your business, never fail.
