G5 Gives: Making the Holidays Merry and Bright in Central Oregon
When CEO Dan Hobin founded G5 he had a vision of building a tech company in Bend, Oregon, where people could grow their careers and also give back to the community in meaningful ways. Giving is so ingrained in our company’s culture, it’s even a part of our Five to Thrive Values. In addition to Owning It, Doing the Right Thing, Changing the Game, and Making it Awesome, we also Pay it Forward.
G5 supports qualified charitable organizations through monetary and non-monetary contributions all year long. In 2019, G5 has donated over $40,000 to 50+ local organizations. G5 employees have also volunteered 687.5 hours so far this year. Since every volunteer hour saves a business $25.40, G5 employees have collectively saved these organizations approximately $17,465.50!
While we give back all year round, our team really hits the gas during the holiday season. Whether we’re donating non-perishable food items, volunteering with local non-profits, or shopping for gifts to make the holidays brighter for local families, we go all in to share our good fortune with those in need.
This year, we expanded our reach to serve a greater number of individuals in the Central Oregon area. We hope that by reading a little about the organizations we donated to, you’ll be inspired to give back too.
Who G5 Donated to in Winter 2019
Family Kitchen’s mission is to serve anyone who needs a nutritious meal in a safe and caring environment. They currently serve over 5,000 meals each month to anyone who comes through their doors – no hassles, no forms to fill out, no questions asked.
The Bend Food Project was started in October 2015 by a small group of residents who wanted to help fight hunger in our area. They heard about the success of the Ashland and Medford Food Projects and wanted to start a similar project in Bend. They adopted the same simple, door-to-door food collection system to enable people to easily pitch in and help.
CCREW is a rescue group of loving, hard-working volunteers who save dogs and puppies of all breeds from urgent situations, and overcrowded high-kill shelters. They network with many other dedicated rescue groups and individuals within the Pacific Northwest. Adoption fees vary and include some vaccines, deworming, spay/neuter, and microchip. Every dollar goes back into the rescue to pay for supplies, vaccines, medications, surgeries, vet care, and food.
KIDS Center, located in Bend, is a medical-model child abuse intervention center providing child abuse evaluations that include head-to-toe medical exam, child-friendly forensic interview, and family support services to help connect families with community resources to minimize life stressors and reduce future opportunities for abuse to occur. They also offer therapeutic services to help children and families begin to process and overcome the trauma of abuse.
The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.
Home Instead Senior Care partners with local non-profit and community organizations to identify seniors who might not otherwise receive gifts this holiday season. The company then works with local businesses and retail stores to help facilitate the purchase and distribution of gifts by placing trees and ornaments within their various locations. Each senior’s gift requests are written on a Be a Santa to a Senior bulb.
Saving Grace provides services for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors designed to help them with the healing process and to provide them with empowering resources for their lives. They also offer services for professionals and community members to help them identify abuse and how to respond so future abuse can be prevented.
Soles4Souls is a non-profit social enterprise based in Nashville, TN, and a registered 501(c)(3) recognized by the IRS. They create sustainable jobs and provide relief through the distribution of shoes and clothing around the world.
Happy holidays to you and yours from the G5 family!
