G5 teamsters proudly turned out to host a registration party for the 13th annual Tour des Chutes cycling event and 5k fun run on July 8th, 2017. Held May 4th at the G5 offices in downtown Bend, attendees registered for the upcoming races and enjoyed good food, free drinks, and great conversations while officials raffled off locally made craft goods provided by event sponsors. The events, which benefit local cancer services for patients and survivors, is a community staple, one that G5’s Corporate Giving Committee is happy to support. Jenni Whelan, of the G5 Giving Committee, explains that the purpose of the committee is to allocate charitable funds to and contributions to local Central Oregon organizations that align with G5’s core values and goals.

We are proud to support and connect with Tour des Chutes. We really believe in the work they do within our community. We have several cancer survivors in our G5 Family and have seen and experienced the benefits of this amazing organization. We are excited to add the Registration Party to our list of events this year. We can’t wait to bring Tour des Chutes and their supporters into the office for an amazing evening!

Raised Local.
Stays Local.

One such survivor is Kathi Denton, G5’s Talent Development Coach. Kathi shares “When I was newly diagnosed with breast cancer, the world seemed to just stop for me and my husband. St. Charles’ Cancer Survivorship programs provided much-needed support and services to help us get through treatment, healing, and a ‘new normal’ life. These programs would not be available without Tour des Chutes, and for that, we are so grateful.”

Sarah McDougall, Executive Director for Tour des Chutes, expresses her excitement for the new collaboration with G5, explaining “the kick-off party was created to offer another time to bring the Tour des Chutes community together and as a way to generate excitement for the event in July. It is also a celebration of the positive influence we can all have in our community.”

About St. Charles Survivo

rship Programs

St. Charles’ Survivorship programs are designed to assist survivors with the support, services, and tools to ease some of the stresses associated with a cancer diagnosis and treatment. McDougall shares that “the heart behind Tour des Chutes is building a community of support for cancer survivors. When [Founder] Gary Bonacker first had cancer, he had local friends and family to support him and realized how fortunate he was. He wanted everyone in Central Oregon going through cancer treatment to have support and not have to go through it alone.”
